From Anger to Action: A Personal Note from the Creator

I started DEI.Watch because I was angry at how quickly companies abandoned their commitments to diversity, and how easily the conversation around DEI shifted. It made me ask: Were they ever truly committed? I was also frustrated by the lies and harmful rhetoric coming from Trump and the current administration, and the active dismantling of any progress that’s been made.As a former journalist, I believe in facts and accountability. I couldn’t just watch it all happen without doing something. This site is my way of speaking out, of pushing back. It’s my form of protest because we can’t afford to be quiet right now!

DeShuna Spencer is the Founder & CEO of kweliTV, a Black-owned streaming platform that celebrates global Black stories. A former journalist and radio host, with a background in investigative storytelling, her work has been featured in outlets including CNN Business, TIME, Fast Company, Bloomberg, Blavity, Refinery29, and more. DeShuna is also a Halcyon Fellow, Voqal Fellow and a 2023 Black Ambition prize winner. She brings a lifelong commitment to truth-telling, equity and shifting narratives through media.
